NOVEMBER MIX // NAHBO

NOVEMBER MIX // NAHBO

This month we are stoked to feature a mix from NahBo (Taranaki Ah Young-Grace). Taranaki recently relocated to Te Whanganui-a-Tara from Tāmaki and has made a strong entry with the release of their debut single Woof via Empty Goon Records. Released on the day of the election, the track takes a bite out of centre-left parliamentarians and fragile fake woke politics with cutting lyrics and cool delivery.

Taranaki is also a member of interdisciplinary performance group Whaea & The Rumble. They merge kapa haka, spoken word Te Reo and industrial beats to explore themes of indigenous and takatāpui identity, pain and history. We first saw them perform at the Newtown Festival earlier this year and were captivated. Most recently, they played a sold-out show alongside Upper Hutt Posse and Miss Pou in celebration of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori.

Since moving to Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Taranaki has also made their debut as a selector at local queer party Frills under the alias DJ DeezNaks. Frills is gaining notoriety for the hot looks served by its attendees and has also repeatedly featured one of our fave new DJs Elastic Coitus. Taranaki has also performed bass and vocals for artists such as Tei and Brown Boy Magik.

This mix is stacked with remixes of classic tracks to get your blood pumping. Check it out below!
