MAY MIX // EMI POGONI
MAY MIX // EMI POGONI
We’ve been wanting to get Emi to do a mix for a while now and we’re delighted to have her feature as our latest guest!
Emi Pogoni is an artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara working in sound, music, design and events. She enjoys creating evocative sound worlds for performance to inhabit, working alongside contemporary choreographers as a composer and as a sound designer/music director for theatre.
Recent projects include Elliptical Fictions (choreographed by Zahra Killeen-Chance, performed by Footnote Dance New Zealand), Orientation (written and directed by Chye-Ling Huang, produced by Proudly Asian Theatre) and Burn Her (with Blake Johnston, written by Sam Brooks).
Emi also founded Works For Loudspeakers, a quarterly listening party curated to provide a platform for non-performative sound-based composition.
The mix draws on an ongoing interest in the emotive use of affected voice and features two of Emi’s own tracks (featuring Yuka Maud aka Otsu and Lucy Beeler) alongside Aotearoa based artists Meer, Fanau Spa, Thomas Lambert, Amy Jean Barnett and Alexa Casino.
Tune in for the hot femme-stacked line up below!
